SSIG was founded in 2024 as part of the Altman-Paulson Initiative on Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Financial Distress. Given a shift in recruiting towards college graduates, the club was born to support NYU's presence in the field to networking and professional opportunities in parallel with practitioner-level teaching via new courses like FINC-UB 17 Restructuring & Distressed Investing.
The club strives to raise awareness and create-real world opportunities for undergraduate students in this important area of finance. We also seek to build lasting relationships through our Advisory Board between NYU and firms in the industry, both in the form of mentorship and recruiting.
Through close collaboration with the Finance Department and the support of industry leaders on our Advisory Board, we are launching a suite of programs, ranging from featured speakers, skill development and exposure to firms.
consists of two 3-part series at our general meetings, featuring industry leaders from our Advisory Board.
